Youth party-list condemns NYC chair over ‘shameless’ act

A YOUTH party-list on Monday condemned National Youth Commission (NYC) Chair Ronald Gian L. Cardema for gatecrashing a forum attended by their representative.

“The Kabataan Party-list condemns the shameless disrespecting by Chair Ronald Cardema during the Pandesal Forum of Kamuning Bakery where Rep. (Raoul Danniel A. Manuel) was the primary guest,” the group said in a statement.

On Saturday, Mr. Cardema interrupted the forum and denied Mr. Manuels allegations of corruption within the NYC.

Arjan P. Aguirre, a political science professor at the Ateneo de Manila University, said in a Facebook chat that Mr. Cardema’s action was political bullying from the “hubris of the large political base created during the time of Duterte and evolved during this time of the Marcos presidency”.

“Make no mistake, this is really something that is expected from an official who is part of the majority — believing that he is articulating or deploying a narrative that is acceptable and embraced by the majority,” Mr. Aguirre said. — Matthew Carl L. Montecillo
